We use content management systems (CMS) to build portfolio sites. Among great CMS options are WordPress (the most widely used), Drupal (more complex but more flexible), Joomla and others.
To start this course, we will:
- Create a free WordPress portfolio and select a theme
- Set homepage to “latest posts” and take care of other customizing issues
- Create new pages and posts
- Work with menus
After a few weeks, we’ll also:
- Create a unique header for your WordPress portfolio
- Customize your site with widgets, colors, fonts etcEventually, when you migrate your portfolio to a professional site with paid hosting, you’ll want to consider:
- Buying your own domain name
- Adding plugins
- Making your site more secure
- and Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
