2.10 Content aware fill

Photoshop Content aware fill (optional exercise)

1. Download the full size version of this photo from the US Fish & Wildlife Service.  (With thanks to our public servants).
2. Use a select tool to select the buildings on the shore. Then pull down to Edit / Content Aware Fill.
3. Do the same to the second smaller fisherman in the background.
4. Isolate the hat and part of the head of the fisherman in the foreground to improve the photo composition. Do that by changing the background using your knowledge of tools.
5. Now include text to promote fly fishing in Alaska. This is the Andreafsky River.

Photopia Magic Cut

(optional exercise)

Photopea is another free imaging editor, but with a difference.  The software does not reside on your computer but rather processes your instructions remotely from the Photopea web site. There is nothing to download.

 1. Go to the Photopea’s “Magic cut” page

2.Upload the fisherman (above) or this reporter talking with a wildlife scientist at an airport.

We want to cut out the background using a very interesting function called “Magic cut”  Open f Select / Magic Cut.

Use the red masking material to drop out the background and the green mask to preserve the foreground.

Here’s another photo that could help you practice using Photopea’s magic cut technique.
