Psychologists have long been interested in the personal and group problems associated with violence.

One promising area involves the study of non-violent communication.  The work of Marshall Rosenberg and the Center for Nonviolent Communication is particularly important.

Rosenberg’s NVC model has four steps:

  1. Observation
  2. Feelings
  3. Needs
  4. Request (optional, depending on mode)
