This Day in History: 1884-01-15

Huang Yuanyong, a major figure in early Chinese journalism, is born this  day in 1885.  Yuanyong was an innovator in both journalistic methods and writing style.

He emphasized that journalists should be able to think critically, to travel, to listen and to write. Yuanyong was killed in San Francisco in 1915. The mystery of his death was never solved.
