Catalog description: Prerequisites: COMS 130 and either COMS 204, COMS 146, COMS 226, COMS 235, or COMS 223 or permission of instructor.
Experience and practical training in journalism, media production, web design or advertising while serving with Radford University student media organizations.
How does it work?
The Student Media Practicum works like an internship. Content decisions are made by student editors and reporters, while agendas for training and critiques of published work are guided by faculty.
COMS 381 can be taken for 1 to 3 credit hours. Each credit represents 40 actual hours of work. Typically, reporters, photographers and broadcasters will register for one credit, while student editors may register for up to three credits, since they will spend 120 working hours (or more) on student media.
