We use content management systems (CMS) to build portfolio sites. Among great CMS options are\u00a0 WordPress (the most widely used),\u00a0 Drupal (more complex but more flexible), Joomla and others.<\/p>\n

To start this course, we will:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. \u00a0Create a\u00a0 free WordPress portfolio<\/a>\u00a0 and select a theme<\/li>\n
  2. Set homepage to “latest posts” and take care of other customizing issues<\/li>\n
  3. Create new pages and posts\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n
  4. Work with menus\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    After a few weeks,<\/strong> we’ll also:<\/p>\n

    1. Create a unique header<\/a> for your WordPress portfolio<\/li>\n
    2. Customize your site<\/a> with widgets, colors, fonts etcEventually, when you migrate your portfolio to a professional site with paid hosting, you’ll want to consider:\n

      1. Buying your own domain name<\/li>\n
      2. Adding plugins<\/li>\n
      3. Making your site more secure<\/li>\n
      4. and\u00a0 Search Engine Optimization (SEO).<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
