So I have &#8220;Your site&#8221; above and Im going to change that in Site Identity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Homepage Settings:\u00a0 <\/strong>Select &#8220;Your latest posts.&#8221; Don&#8217;t leave it on &#8220;static page.&#8221;\u00a0 This can be changed later but it&#8217;s much easier to start this way.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fonts: <\/strong>For now, it&#8217;s easiest just to leave these on &#8220;default.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Colors &amp; Backgrounds : <\/strong>The temptation is to use loud colors,\u00a0 but the most basic rule is legibility. And sometimes, posts don&#8217;t show up because your &#8220;Customize \/ Homepage Settings&#8221;\u00a0 are set to &#8220;A static page&#8221; instead of &#8220;Your latest posts.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>(This is one of the most confusing things about WordPress when you are just starting out.)<\/p>\n<p>If you switch to &#8220;Your latest posts&#8221; you can upload your content, but soon you&#8217;ll notice that you want more control over how it stacks.<\/p>\n<p>So, here&#8217;s the menu procedure:\u00a0 1) You create a page or a post; 2) you upload your images and other content to the Media Library and then place it on the page or post; and\u00a0 3) from the dashboard, open &#8220;Appearance \/ Menu,&#8221; select the item to add, and then click and drag the item to its position in the Menu.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #444444;\"><strong>Menus are for pages AND posts<\/strong>, and you can rename them and change their order pretty easily.\u00a0 \u00a0But there&#8217;s one big problem:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/revolutionsincommunication.com\/viscomm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DontClick.NewMenu.jpg\">Dont Push the button <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/revolutionsincommunication.com\/viscomm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DontClick.NewMenu.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1845\" src=\"https:\/\/revolutionsincommunication.com\/viscomm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DontClick.NewMenu-188x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"144\" height=\"230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/revolutionsincommunication.com\/viscomm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DontClick.NewMenu-188x300.jpg 188w, https:\/\/revolutionsincommunication.com\/viscomm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DontClick.NewMenu-642x1024.jpg 642w, https:\/\/revolutionsincommunication.com\/viscomm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DontClick.NewMenu-502x800.jpg 502w, https:\/\/revolutionsincommunication.com\/viscomm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/DontClick.NewMenu.jpg 735w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 144px) 100vw, 144px\" \/><\/a>:<\/strong> There&#8217;s an overly prominent button (screenshot circled red, to the right)\u00a0 that lets you create a new menu when you go into Appearance \/ Menu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">This is for a <em>whole new menu<\/em>, and what you\u00a0 \u00a0need right now are new menu <strong>items<\/strong>.
