A long-neglected champion of the people<\/strong>, Ida B. Wells, has been remembered by the Chicago City Council this summer as it\u00a0\u00a0renamed\u00a0<\/a>a prominent downtown street for her.\u00a0 Wells is remembered as a courageous journalist who exposed lawless lynch mobs in Memphis, TN, in the 1890s. She was also a\u00a0 pioneering newspaper editor, and a women’s rights advocate.\u00a0 Renaming Congress Parkway as Ida B.
